Mindspace 101

Mindspace is a term that can be used interchangeably with "headspace" and refers to refers to one's state of mind or the mental space one occupies. It's the place where your thoughts and emotions reside; the inner world of an individual. It can be thought of as the space within one's mind where thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and experiences are processed and organized.

Where Are You Placing the Focus? — On Fear, or Freedom?**

In a world wired for distraction, the mind is constantly being pulled, poked, and prodded by forces outside of itself. Nowhere is this more evident than in the modern news cycle—a system built to feed off fear, uncertainty, and division. The stories may change, but the tone rarely does: crisis, outrage, disaster, repeat.

But here's the thing: the human mind is not a passive receiver. It is an instrument of focus. And with training, it can be directed—by you.

Fear is Not Information

News and media often masquerade as "informative," but most of what’s served to you isn't knowledge—it's emotional bait. Headlines are written not to enlighten, but to trigger your amygdala. Fear sells. Conflict engages. The more frightened or outraged you are, the more you click, scroll, and return for more.

This is not about ignoring reality. It's about discerning what is useful from what is just noise. Ask:

Is this helping me understand the world, or just making me afraid of it?

Awareness is a Superpower

The untrained mind is reactive. It soaks up every suggestion, every story, every judgment. But the trained mind becomes sovereign. It learns to observe before absorbing.

Start here:

  • Notice what pulls your attention.
  • Ask, “Is this helping me grow or pulling me into fear?”
  • Choose focus like you choose food—deliberately, not impulsively.

Remember: every moment you're focusing on fear-based media, you are feeding it with your energy.

You Are the One Who Focuses

The truth is simple: you are not your thoughts, and you are not your reactions. You are the one who sees them. That awareness? That’s your real center. And from that center, you can choose what to extend.

  • Fear projects separation.
  • Awareness extends peace.

So the next time you're tempted to scroll endlessly through doom-laced headlines or get pulled into outrage theater, stop and breathe. Ask yourself:

Where am I placing the focus?

The media can only lead you where you let it. Your mind is sovereign. Use it wisely.
